Join us for the opening of Broad Strokes, the work of Brian Clarke, aka Les Toil. Brian is badass. Aka Les Toil, he grew up in Berkeley, Ca. Need I say more? Surrounded by Big Daddy Roth model cars, the Fantastic Four, MAD Magazine, The Jackson Five and Bruce Lee the very forces that became the foundational threads shaping his work.
You can see those threads in his new show Broad Strokes this August at the Grand Gallery.
Attending both the California College of Arts and The San Francisco Academy of Art, Brian honed in on the Rennaisance and many masters of the 20th century American Illustration. These skills launched his career as a painter and freelance commercial illustrator with a pop culture twist. His work appeared in the Village Voice, New York Times, Shmobots, a comic book about robots, on the cover of Harlan Ellison books and oh so much more.
