Join the OakDOT Major Projects Division for a Community Design Workshop! Arrive anytime between 5:00 PM and 7:30 PM to visit themed stations, speak with the project team, and learn about proposed designs for Embarcadero West in the Jack London District. All welcome – residents, workers, visitors, young people, seniors, and families – to ask questions and provide insights. Enjoy light refreshments and kid-friendly activities at our wheelchair-accessible venue. Please register for additional disability-related or language accommodations. We look forward to seeing you there!

The Jack London Improvement District encourages you to share your feedback with the project team. This is an opportunity to advance safe crossings, train quiet zone efforts, and to bring art and beautiful infrastructure to the neighborhood. Here are the key points we're asking for in the project, based on community priorities for a safe, welcoming waterfront:

  • Ensure the project helps to reverse the barrier effect between Downtown/rest of Jack London District and Waterfront-- and overall creates a far more welcoming corridor
  • Include wayfinding for all modes of transit to utilize parking garages, train, bikeshare, and ferry stations
  • Include Train Quiet Zone as a goal-- ensure upgrades are designed to be compatible with a Train Quiet Zone. Consider whether all automobile crossings are necessary to simplify/minimize vehicular + train interaction
  • Include art/great lighting design to improve barriers/crossing/wayfinding and other design elements
