Discover the stories that shaped Oakland's waterfront on a free guided walking tour through Jack London Square and the historic Produce & Warehouse District.
Join the Jack London Improvement District on Saturday, August 2, as local historian and guide Scooter Marriner of Oakland Scenic Walking Tours leads his Jack London's Footsteps Tour.
While Jack London's connection to Heinold's First and Last Chance Saloon is well known, there's so much more to uncover. Along the way, you'll explore Jack London's early life, the history of Oakland's Produce District, the impact of the transcontinental railroads, and the evolution of the Port of Oakland—all while strolling through one of the city's most historic and scenic neighborhoods.
Scooter leads acclaimed walking tours throughout Oakland and San Francisco, including tours at the Fox Theater and the Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts, bringing local history to life with engaging stories and fascinating insights.
This is a flat, easy walk lasting approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
