Bicycle Coffee

Founded in 2009, Bicycle Coffee has been roasting, distributing, and slangin’ coffee in Oakland since their inception. Known for their killer cold brew, CBD infusions, and their delicious @thirdculturebakery mochi donuts, Bicycle Coffee has been a staple of our district ever since they set up shop. If you live in Oakland, there’s a good chance you’ve seen their delivery cyclists distributing wholesale coffee beans to accounts all across the city, bike trailers in tow. In 2023, they moved their business right across the street to open up a swanky new coffee shop and roastery.

Locals Recommend: the Dirty Chai Latte. The best in town!

Peerless Coffee & Tea

Peerless Coffee is the Bay Area’s OG craft coffee roaster. In 2024, they celebrated 100 years of business in Oakland! After three generations of ownership and countless industry innovations, they earned the coveted Roaster of the Year award in 2019 from Roast Magazine. We’re honored that our district is not only home to their headquarters but also their cozy coffee shop where you can enjoy fresh-ground coffee Monday through Friday.

Locals Recommend: their French Roast and other dark roast coffees. To die for!

Shapeshifters Cafe

If you’re looking for a coffee shop with a full lunch and breakfast menu, Shapeshifters Cafe is your spot. Since taking over the old Autobahn Cafe in 2023, Shapeshifters has expanded their daily offerings. In the mood for a Vietnamese iced coffee, a breakfast burrito, and fresh baked cookies? Shapeshifters is a one stop shop for all your mid-morning cravings.

Locals Recommend: the lavender latte. The syrup is made in-house and beautifully balanced. Also, their deli sandwiches do not miss!

Timeless

Timeless has been serving up delicious coffee, breakfast, and baked goods since 2012. Since their inception, they’ve expanded their business from one small coffee shop on Piedmont Ave to multiple locations throughout the East Bay. Their Jack London coffee shop and bakery opened in 2022. Enjoy 100% plant-based drinks and treats, 7 days a week.

Locals Recommend: their cold brew is top notch. Pair with a vegan pesto cheese roll and sit by the waterside to savor the flavors and the view!
