Bicycle Coffee

Founded in 2009, Bicycle Coffee has been roasting, distributing, and slangin’ coffee in Oakland since their inception. Known for their killer cold brew, CBD infusions, and their delicious @thirdculturebakery mochi donuts, Bicycle Coffee has been a staple of our district ever since they set up shop. If you live in Oakland, there’s a good chance you’ve seen their delivery cyclists distributing wholesale coffee beans to accounts all across the city, bike trailers in tow. In 2023, they moved their business right across the street to open up a swanky new coffee shop and roastery.

Locals Recommend: the Dirty Chai Latte. The best in town!

Peerless Coffee & Tea

Peerless Coffee is the Bay Area’s OG craft coffee roaster. In 2024, they celebrated 100 years of business in Oakland! After three generations of ownership and countless industry innovations, they earned the coveted Roaster of the Year award in 2019 from Roast Magazine. We’re honored that our district is not only home to their headquarters but also their cozy coffee shop where you can enjoy fresh-ground coffee Monday through Friday.

Locals Recommend: their French Roast and other dark roast coffees. To die for!

Good Vybes and Brews

Located underneath the Link Four12 apartments, GVAB has continued to grow into one of the district’s coziest corners for coffee, tea, and community. The space has evolved beautifully since opening in mid-2025 — simple, warm, and welcoming. All of their coffee is organic, fair trade, and sourced from brands that take an activist approach to both environmental and human initiatives — a reflection of their values and care behind every cup.

Locals recommend: a cold brew latte or a shaken espresso with their house-made aromatic bitters syrup! It's a blend of organic bitter and earthy roots, warm spices, ginger, holy basil and other elements mixed into their organic simple syrup.

Shapeshifters Cafe

If you’re looking for a coffee shop with a full lunch and breakfast menu, Shapeshifters Cafe is your spot. Since taking over the old Autobahn Cafe in 2023, Shapeshifters has expanded their daily offerings. In the mood for a Vietnamese iced coffee, a breakfast burrito, and fresh baked cookies? Shapeshifters is a one stop shop for all your mid-morning cravings.

Locals Recommend: the lavender latte. The syrup is made in-house and beautifully balanced. Also, their deli sandwiches do not miss!

With long ties to the Jack London district and generations of family ownership, Mr. Espresso carries a vast selection of espresso equipment to meet your commercial or personal needs. Mr. Espresso is also home to Oak Wood Roasted, their own brand of coffee that can be found at restaurants and cafes all over the Bay Area.

In 2024, the company opened The Caffé by Mr. Espresso, a stylsih Italian style coffee shop in Downtown Oakland, just a 10 minute stroll up Broadway.
